What Makes Hodge Ill

Hodge lies close to the rim of the road
In front of home 45A’s yard
Why lie so close to the road?
There’s nothing here to see or to guard
All except two grey mice
Vivian and Jill
Hodge doesn’t chase mice though

They’re hairy and make him feel ill
